Alexis Fleckenstein, Associate Marriage Family Therapist
Seeking out support when we know we need to make a change is a vulnerable and challenging experience for many of us. My approach to therapy emphasizes developing a secure therapeutic relationship, attending to emotional experiences in session, and gaining insight into which parts of current issues may be rooted in past relational injuries and trauma. I believe that we heal in connection with others, and that a trusting relationship with a therapist gives us the opportunity to explore feelings and past experiences in a way that promotes self-compassion
and meaningful change.
At Kindred Heart Therapy Group, I work with adults, adolescents, and couples who hold a broad range of identities, and am particularly passionate about working with members of the LGBTQ+ community, and people who identify as fat and are looking to heal from anti-fatness and diet culture. Before getting a masters in counseling psychology and becoming a therapist, I spent twelve years working in Human Resources as an executive coach. This experience informs my style in that I am passionate about empowering people to achieve their goals, and want to be an engaged partner in co-creating a space for my clients’ personal growth.
My interpersonal style is non-judgmental, curious, and empathic. I welcome you to come as you are and bring your whole self to session.
